    Historique de la conservation :

    Le Département des Manuscrits acquiert en 2002 un lot d'archives Amiel totalement inconnu. La surprise est d'autant plus grande que ces papiers avaient trouvé refuge à Berlin. En effet, Paul Strohlin, neveu d'Amiel, avait lui aussi poursuivi ses études en Allemagne. Il y rencontre Bertha Putzke qu'il épouse en 1894. En 1908, suite au décès de son mari, elle retourne en Allemagne. A sa mort, une parente, Madame Suzanne Behrendt, hérite de ces papiers et en informe la BPU. Ce nouvel ensemble de documents inédits a été conservé dans son classement d'origine, en petits paquets entourés de ruban ou annotés par Henri Frédéric Amiel, son père (Henri) et son grand-père (Samuel-Frédéric) [catalogue dactylographié 47, p. 1].
