Arthur McCandless Wilson, spécialiste américain du 18e siècle en France, professeur de Biographie et de "Government" au Dartmouth College à Hanover dans le New Hampshire aux Etats-Unis. Il est marié à Mary Tolford, et écrit parfois depuis une ville voisine, Norwich, dans le Vermont.
